In compliance with Governor Glenn Youngkin’s Executive Order 33 and Orange County Public Schools School Board Policy JFC-R, Orange County Public Schools will be a cell phone-free educational setting.
To ensure that students have a focused and healthier learning environment, Orange County Public Schools will implement and enforce the following procedures at all schools.
-
Upon entering the school building, students must keep cell phones and other personal electronic devices turned off and in their backpacks or lockers until they exit the building at the end of the instructional day.
-
No headphones/earbuds will be worn at school. Headphone/earbud use will only be permitted for specific learning activities as directed by school staff.
-
For instructional purposes, only school-issued electronic devices will be allowed.
-
Parents who need to reach their child during the school day should call the main office.
-
Students who need to reach a parent should ask a teacher or other staff member and will be able to do so using a school phone.
Whole School Book Read
Image
Dear Students and Family,
We are participating in a schoolwide reading project with Unionville Elementary School, which involves our families and our community. We will be reading Mr. Popper’s Penguins by Florence and Richard Atwater as a whole school.
During the Two Schools ~ Whole School Book event your LES student will:
- Receive their copy of Mr. Popper’s Penguins book on November 11. This book will travel back and forth from school to home.
- Earn a penguin sticker for the class ice plates poster by correctly answering the daily question(s). The question sheet with parent signature will go back and forth from school to home daily with the book.
- Each class will complete a research project on penguins and make a life size 2D penguin.
- Ms. Grubb will participate in an activity with the winning class, along with a treat.
- TBD PTA movie night
Take time to enjoy reading with your family and discussing the answer to the question every night. Parents, please work on the questions at home with your child and sign their paper.
We hope you will begin to read and learn about new adventures soon!
Happy Reading!
